I was convinced that this would be the most colorful celebration in school. And, yeah it definitely was.
I guess it was a bit of a crossover between UN and Family Day because we were all encouraged to wear a national costume of any country. Well, I wore an Egyptian-inspired costume using my sister's old play costume, a pair of white sandals, and braided hair, for the first time. When I entered the school grounds, I immediately noticed that almost everyone was in a Chinese outfit. Well, I'm glad I wasn't Chinese again, having been in the same nationality twice already for UN. Anyway, it shows that we, Ilonggos, have Chinese ties if not, lovers of the Oriental race. So, I was also surprised that the teachers as well got into the spirit of the UN. All of them were wearing costumes and I gotta say, I was pretty impressed by that. I guess they wanted to be the best-dressed teacher or something. So, the first teacher I saw with a costume was Mr. Guintivano, wearing a Jewish-like outfit worn during Jesus' days. Also with a Jewish-like costume was Ms. Escare. They looked like a nice pair when put together side-by-side, having the same height and all. Also, another teacher that struck my eye was none other than my class adviser, Ms. Layson. I was shocked since she told us that her costume was going to be a surprise but I didn't expect her to wear a blonde wig! Her country was a Euroean country which I forgot. Well, I can say that she really worked hard on her outfit.
The first thing we had was the mass, followed by the parade, which I guess was really short. Then after the parade, we had a recess that was meant to be the registration time. My mom was the only one who came but she didn't have a costume on. After that, we had a program which included dance numbers from outside schools and our very own dance troupe. But I wasn't paying any attention along with my friends. We had our own 'presentation' right in our own seats with the music from the ones dancing in front. We then broke into different groups and performed dance numbers from different countries. We were the Persian group so therefore we had to belly dance. I know right. I'm not too keen in dancing but nevertheless, our group won the best presentation, which I think was just a form of pity for us since they gave every group a citation and the only remaining one was just given to us. So then we had lunch after. It took me a long time to buy at the Sbarro stand they had, but at least I was happy when I got to eat my Baked Ziti.
After eating our lunch, we all got bored. My mom was playing Bingo at 1:00 which was surprisingly early since it's usually held at 4:00. Also, the Family Day officially ended at 6:00 which was a total bummer since there wasn't going to be any class the next day. So back to our bored, after-lunch feeling, we decided to head to the St. Catherine classroom to rest. We decided to make a horror video thing but needed the help of Kayleigh who was still resting in her apartment. Well, we had nothing to do,so we fetched her in her apartment and went back to school. We then got tired when we reached the classroom so the horror video thing didn't happen at all. Ally and I then went downstairs and waited for the Bingo to end. When it did, we listened to the band that played. To tell you the truth, I was really disappointed when the concert wasn't what I expected it to be. I expected it to be like the one that happened last year, which everyone said was a blast but I wasn't there. No. This year's band was actually held outside the Sports Complex and they weren't the Rock n' Roll type either. Not much people were listening to them or dancing to their songs. I was really bummed because this year, I could actually stay for the concert for the first time. But it turns out, the concert wasn't enjoyable or fun as I thought. I don't know why but I felt like I was corrupted in some way. So after we went around and around, listened to some songs and talked to some people, my mom came to fetch me. I don't know why, but as unsuccessful as it was, I didn't feel like leaving yet the Family Day Celebration. I still had to leave though and that was the end of my Family Day '10 experience.
But wait! I almost forgot one thing.
When my mom told me that we should take the skywalk in front of the school and ride the jeep at the other side, she wanted to make sure first that there wasn't anyone on the skywalk that would make us feel uncomfortable since it was already beginning to get dark. She told me she saw the back of a person's head up there. I saw it too. That satisfied my mom, thinking it was a security guard so we went up the stairs. We were freaked out when we got up there and saw NO ONE at all. Creepy. My mom said that maybe that person went down already but I didn't believe her because we should have seen someone going down the stairs. So, that's the end of my day. Pretty creepy if you ask. :D

What happened on the 13th Day
October 11. What a day that was.
First of all, we were all psyched to know that there won't be any afternoon classes anymore, just a film in SM City. Everybody was excited, who wouldn't be? Marion said I would ride in her car along with Allyza and Lisa but sadly, Lisa was absent that day. So, we took in Bella, and we were all happy. When we got in Marion's car, we were all thinking the same thing: MJ is so CUTE! MJ is Marion's little brother. He's really cute especially when he talks. As we were preparing to leave the school grounds, Marion asked us if we want to have a take-out at McDo's first before we proceed to SM City with her treat. The three of us were shy and were passing on the question to each other. Marion's mom told us not be shy though. It took us a long time to decide because we were not even sure if we would allow her to treat us. Well, eventually we reached McDo in Jaro and gave our orders. I had a Coke Float, Bella ordered a Caramel Sundae, and Ally got a Float similar to Strawberry (I forgot the name) and we all shared one Large Fries. Marion had a Chicken Burger and I guess her brother did too.
We then arrived at SM City, passing at the back entrance where Ms. Layson told us to proceed. When we saw our classmates, they were surprised at seeing our food. They started complaining to our teacher that they should also buy food, seeing us with our Mcdonald's plastic. That was the time we realized bringing food in was a mistake. The four of us were scared now. We saw Sr. Paz confiscating a group of friends' drinks. That's it. We were doomed.
We tried to hide the food as much as we could. I really felt guilty breaking the law. I felt like a fugitive as we turned our backs on Sister every time she passed by. Whew! I was relieved a little when we reached the 3rd floor without getting caught. We were still hiding our food because Sister was there just a bit near from where we stood. Finally, with much sweat poured out from my body, and probably my parters-in-crime's too, our conscience kicked in. We decided to turn ourselves in since we wouldn't enjoy the movie while we're practically eating 'illegal' food. So we mustered enough courage to go up to Sister. She was still talking to another student when we interrupted her. Marion explained to her why we had food with us and I guess she was listening, but after Marion was done, she didn't say anything.
Weird After that, she walked over to other teachers as if nothing happened. We were thinking what would happen now, now that we told Sister. But then, it was time for us to enter the movie theater. No one seemed to look at us suspiciously anymore, and the guilt at the back of our minds were now starting to disintegrate. The feeling was refreshing. We had fun inside the theater. Sharing the food with others, we had a great time. The movie itself was cool too.
So, those were the things that made that day memorable. Memorable enough to have me blog about it 2 months later. :)

Play Doodle God!
This is a really addicting game. The goal is to create as much elements as possible. You only start with the 4 basic elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air but you need to come up with 115! Well, Good Luck!
One thousand-year-long song
Longplayer is a one thousand year long musical composition. It began playing at midnight on the 31st of December 1999, and will continue to play without repetition until the last moment of 2999, at which point it will complete its cycle and begin again. Conceived and composed by Jem Finer, it was originally produced as an Artangel commission, and is now in the care of the Longplayer Trust.
Longplayer can be heard in the lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London, where it has been playing since it began. It can also be heard at several other listening posts around the world, and globally via a live stream on the Internet.

First Day of Exams: Done
Math. Science. Journalism.
Isn't it bad enough that Biology had to be on the first day of exams since we barely understood the lesson only finished the day before? But why was Math on the schedule??
Those thoughts were in my head the night before the exams. There were the Calvin Cycle, the Glycolysis, the Pyruvate Oxidation and the Krebs Cycle. I barely understood any of it and the lesson started only 2 days before the test. Great. Well, let the cramming start. And so it was. I barely studied for Math let alone Journalism. So when the tests came, I found Math to be the easiest then Journalism and of course, Science. I know I had failed in all the three tests today and that's because I didn't study well. I started studying the night before only since I studied for the Mastery Tests the whole weekend. See, this is why teachers shouldn't give their Mastery Tests on the same week as the exams unless they want to see their students complaining 24/7.
Well, better luck for the tests tomorrow, I guess, if I could only get off the computer now...
