One Difficult Lesson

When Algebra came,
I thought, “What a shame”.
The lessons were already hard;
It even ruined my report card.

This whole thing about x and y,
Got me thinking, “Why, Why, Why
Do we have to include all the letters?
I thought Math was just about numbers.”

So many processes to learn,
A lot of midnight oils to burn.
How can anyone remember it all?
Let’s just pray for a miracle to fall.

Then it all became clear to me
The lessons turned out to be easy
Though there is much to memorize,
I guess I have to pay the price.

RH Bill

I bet if you ask any Filipino right now what currently holds their freedom from them, some may say the Abu Sayyaf or the Educational System, which is possible, but another answer that is surely to come up is the Reproductive Health Bill.

The issue regarding the RH Bill has been around for quite a while because of so many protests, mostly coming from the Church and her religious affiliates as it is against the teachings of God. I am on the side of the Church because I do not appreciate the idea of legalizing abortion and the use of contraceptives. I am also not in favor of the idea of limiting the number of children a couple can have. Humans are given the freedom to have as many children as they want, provided that the parents did it out of love and have the ability to support them. By passing this bill, the government would take away this God-given gift.

What I also don’t like is that young children, as young as those in the 3rd and 4th grades, would be exposed to knowledge of sex, since sex education will be taught to them. There will also be the widespread use of condoms and pills among teenagers, since they think it is okay to do those things. And if an unwanted pregnancy may occur, they would just rely on abortion, since it is now supported by the government.
The government would be promoting murder when they promote abortion because it is still deliberately killing a human life. And legalized murder in a country doesn’t seem like a step towards progress at all, since this whole thing has been intended for progress. Apparently, the government wanted to borrow more money from the IMF, but they said that their wish may be granted only after our country has controlled its growing population. Apparently, this bill seemed to be the solution for this certain problem.

I must say, though, that if I looked at the situation from the President’s point-of-view, this seems to be the most practical thing to do to ensure the full control of our population. But then again, we are Christians, and we have beliefs to uphold. And if only the other politicians and heads of the government were not as selfish and greedy as they are now, the RH Bill wouldn’t be the only practical option left. Why, if the politicians weren’t selfish and greedy, I don’t think this kind of problem would exist at all! But if we revert back to reality, we could only hope that there would be an inner change that could come upon them, allowing them to realize their horrible mistake of greed.

Of course, the government officials aren’t the only ones who need to change for the better. We, the people, should make some changes for ourselves too. Couples who live in poverty and have more than enough children to handle should think twice of having more, if they don’t want them to suffer in the end. Yes, we are given the freedom to have as many kids as we want, but we must not abuse this. We should know our limits and know when enough is enough.

Let me just say that if you’re a Filipino and that if your religious beliefs have been offended by this bill; before you go running off to join rallies in your community, help yourself first. If the bill may not be turned into a law after all, don’t go rejoicing yet. Our country will continue to suffer poverty unless we do something about ourselves first.

I See the Light (Tangled)

All those days watching from the windows
All those years outside looking in
All that time never even knowing
Just how blind I've been
Now I'm here, blinking in the starlight
Now I'm here, suddenly I see
Standing here, it's all so clear
I'm where I'm meant to be

And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you

All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were
Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now she's here, suddenly I know

Field Trip Gone Wild

Ajuy. February 24.

You could say that this was the day I strayed away from my comfort zone. You could also say that this was the day I've done the most daring thing I possibly could. And you could definitely say that this day is one that I could not bear to live through again.

We were already told that we had to climb some rough paths and see some great views. Well, I was feeling a bit adventurous that day. I tried to see and do everything the place had to offer. We were in Camp Regulus and the first thing we did was to visit the falls.

The path was narrow and rough. And it was scary, too. To our left were trees and bushes and to our right was a cliff of some sort that slides down to a stream. We were holding on to the stems of the plants in order for us not to fall down. Finally, we arrived at the waterfalls area. It was actually the first waterfall I've seen in reality. And I didn't hesitate to take as many pictures as I could, since it's my first time and all.

We went back to our base area where we had our lunch. While we were eating, we watched some of the people living in that area do some Arnis, a type of martial art. I gotta say, they were all amazing. After that piece of entertainment, we were to embark on a journey to the top of a mountain. The teachers warned us it would be a really hard trip up, but I still agreed to go.

I really wish I hadn't.

The first part of the climb was fairly easy because there was still some shade from the trees and the path was still flat. The hard part came next when we were already crawling on the ground, trying to pull ourselves up. It was a huge relief for me when I managed to pull myself up onto a relatively flat surface. But that was only before I realized how high up our destination was. What made it worse was the absence of shade from trees and the presence of the persistent heat from the sun. The climb was so steep. My leg had to bend at least 90 degrees to reach the next step. My legs felt like lead. Sweat dripped down all over my face. It sort of felt like a deja vu of last year's trip, only this one was a bit fun. Behind me were Gabrielle and Liezl, so it made the trip less boring. We had a few stopovers when we became really tired. We couldn't rest for a long time because the sun was scorching and there was a line of 2nd years at our backs. Though I felt my lungs were about to collapse, I managed to turn on my camera and take pictures. And I wanted to cherish every moment. We finally reached a shaded area at the top and I was wondering the people ahead of me were still continuing forward. We followed the trail to where the others were and we stopped in a cliff. It was a really scary one, I mean if it weren't for the trees at the edge, one wrong move could have you plunging to your death. We were standing there for a while already, wondering why they told us to stop. I was already beginning to fear if this would have been the last time I'd be able to live or something. I thought we were stranded with no way out. I had been looking forward for a day of adventure, but this was more than I asked for.
A few seconds later, we heard someone say "Go back!" which I thought at first was a mistake because of all our hard work to get up here. Then I later found out they were all dead serious of going back to where we came. I thought it was all going to be hopeless. We barely made it up through that steep mountain, I was doubtful if we were ever going to make it down.
It was a really funny scene. Really. Because of its steepness and all, we were all sitting down and dropping on each step down. It was still hot, really hot. I thought I was going to burn under the intense heat.

But eventually, we made our way down to the flat ground. It was at first unbelievable, the fact that we actually made it down, alive! Actually, everything seemed unreal. I never thought I'd ever climb a hill that steep or making it out alive in the process.

That day, most of us went beyond our limits. I know I did. The whole experience taught me to look on the brighter side of life and being positive in the face of problems. Though I honestly thought my life was going to end then and there, I managed to be positive for the sake of having my last moments be happy ones at least.

Today My Life Begins by Bruno Mars

I've been working hard so long
Seems like pain has been my only friend
My fragile heart's been done so wrong
I wondered if I'd ever heal again

ohh just like all the seasons never stay the same
All around me i can feel a change (ohh)

I will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me
leave the past behind me, today my life begins
a whole new world is waiting it's mine for the taking
I know I can make it, today my life begins

Yesterday has come and gone
And I've learn how to leave it where it is
And I see that I was wrong
For ever doubting I could win

ohh just like all the seasons never stay the same
all around me I can feel a change (ohh)

I will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me
Leave the past behind me, today my life begins
A whole new world is waiting it's mine for the taking
I know I can make it, today my life begins

Life's to short to have regrets
So I'm learning now to leave it in the past and try to forget
Only have one life to live
So you better make the best of it

I will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me
Leave the past behind me, today my life begins
A whole new world is waiting it's mine for the taking
I know I can make it, today my life begins

I will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me
Leave the past behind me, today my life begins
A whole new world is waiting it's mine for the taking
I know I can make it, today my life begins
Today my life begins...

~ ~ ~ ~ ~
This is a really inspiring song about forgetting the past and leading your life to the present in order to see a bright future. It is also about changes and turning over a new leaf. For me, it seems like a perfect song for ending the school year.

Without Borders

High School with boys seemed like a great idea back when I was in the 6th grade. All of the guys were fun to be with and it was hard to adapt to an environment that only allowed females in--except the teachers that is. But as the days went on, new friends were made, new lessons were learned, and the door to a whole new life was unlocked. Through that door, we entered and experienced the true Assumption High School Education. One without boys.

Now that I'm a Sophomore, I got used to the whole, all-girls school thing, where everyone seems to be free of their shyness (except for me) and of being embarrassed. And then suddenly, just like a lightning bolt, everyone started to buzz about the possible schooling of boys in High School. Actually, I've already heard a few rumors about it when I was still graduating. Some of which I heard said that by 2010, boys will be allowed to enter HS. Well, they were close enough. Because it had been approved and confirmed by our chairperson already.

Our school is already running low on students, as tuition fees and standards here are very high. A lot of people would usually transfer when they graduate elementary here. That would cause a deduction in the total fees that are paid to the school. During Freshman year, more than a few students would enter Assumption for the first time. And when some of the new students cannot adapt to the school, they would transfer. In short, the Sisters are in need of more students in order to have enough money to run the school. They can't increase the tuition fees anymore, as more students would leave. So, they thought of opening the High School doors to boys.

A lot reacted violently in the inside, knowing that a 100 years of tradition will be partially ruined. This isn't the first time our school would be going through a change like that. As far as I know, boys were only allowed until the 3rd Grade before, and there used to be a college somewhere in the campus. I have no idea how the people during those times accepted the fact that a change would be coming to them. I guess it took time and understanding to adapt to the new changes that took place. And I think we should follow the same, no matter what happens.

As for me, I am not that much in favor of these newcomers, but if it's the only way of saving the school from shutting down, bring them in. :)

Oodles of Doodles

"Second-hand?" "Nope."
"Passionate Doodler?" "By nature."

A conversation that would likely come up once a 'concerned' person sees my books and notebooks.

People will only wonder why my notes are messy. As if the erasures of my ball pen weren't bad enough. Apparently, it is my nature to scribble random lines and shapes and other intricate designs on any paper I get hold of. My books are FULL of it. I bet those clean freaks would get a heart attack at the sight of my Biology book. Sometimes, I'd be doing it unintentionally and I can't stop myself once I've already made a line or two. This would usually happen when I'm bored or even during the middle of a discussion.

I guess it is just my way of expressing myself. Although, all of my doodles and scribbles cannot be deciphered, as there really is no meaning to them. They are just a product of my sub-conscious or something like that.

Of course, I wouldn't be doing that on exam papers and important documents, but, as long as there are no consequences, my trusty Faber-Castell and I would be ready to serve any writing material. :)

My Instrument in Escaping Reality

I really love playing the piano, though I'm not very good at it. I am what other would call an "amateur" since I can't even read piano notes and play at the same time. I can barely read notes at all! I'd either ask my dad to teach me a song or learn from Youtube. Or I'd try to ouido or play a song by ear. And yet, my lack of skill doesn't stop me from playing some pieces over and over again. I have been play the chorus of Right Here Waiting day and night, hoping to perfect it. I have to admit though, I still can't play an entire song, but when I do, it'll be an achievement for me. I had received my piano as a graduation gift from my dad, after years of begging and persuading. I promised I would learn to play the basics first, but I got excited and started to learn from Youtube some short pieces already. I ouido-ed some memorable instrumentals as much as I could. But I guess it's not enough. I have to learn the whole thing so that's why I promise to take piano lessons this summer. I told my mom I would the last, but my laziness got hold of me, I mean come on, it's SUMMER. Last summer, all I did with the piano was playing the same pieces over and over again, learn and ouido-ed a few, and replayed all of it again and again. When school started this year, I continued to play it every time I come home after school and even early in the morning before I leave for school too. But there came a time when there were a lot to do when I get home, so I never played for about a month. I decided to start playing again, and swore to myself that I should play at least once a day. That, I did. And whenever there were tests the next day, playing the piano came to me as a distraction. I wouldn't really play anything else other than the few short pieces I know, I just like the sound of it. So, I've been wasting probably 30 minutes of study time just sitting there and playing the same old songs. Once, I even fell asleep on the piano, only God knows what had happened. Playing the piano would cause me to forget what time it is. I would be in some dream world or something every time I do. That is why it officially became my instrument in escaping reality :)

Nostalgic Sundays.

There's this undescribable feeling that I would always feel every time I enter my room on a Sunday afternoon where the sun is near its setting. I would remember all the good times in my childhood. All those wonderful memories would come rushing at me every time I enter that kind of atmosphere. And then, realizing that those wonderful memories could only stay as memories and could never really happen again, I would suddenly feel sad. There's also a comforting feeling in that certain atmosphere. I would feel safe and secure. There's no explanation as to why I'd feel those things. I don't know why I'm so attached to my past and I don't know why I can't accept changes in the future. Well, someday I will know, but for now, I'll await for another nostalgic Sunday afternoon at home... -_-

Fact: Pretending to eat food can reduce your cravings for it

This idea is based on a common phenomenon called “habituation”. This is when food becomes less desirable the more you eat it. For example, the first bite of something is always better than, say, the tenth. Researchers found out that this process happens in your mind. So if you trick your mind into thinking that you are already eating, you will feel less of a desire to eat!

What I learned from a Taxi Driver

My mom and I were outside Robinsons, hoping to get a taxi as soon as possible when, a Sher-lyn unit came into view. We tried to go ahead of the college students waiting for a tazi too, and we were successful. The moment we went out of the Robinsons Driveway, the taxi driver started to talk about how insensitive people are nowadays to the traffic rules. He saw a bunch of people right in front of the mall, trying to get a taxi. You see, taxi drivers are not allowed to load or unload there, it would just cause more traffic jam. And if a taxi driver was caught, as the taxi driver said, they would be asked to pay a fee AND take a seminar regarding traffic rule-following or something like that. What's more is that if a taxi driver was not accepted in the first batch of 50 in the seminar, he'd have to take the next one, the next day. Until then, he could not drive the taxi. Anyway, the taxi driver was old, probably 60 or so, and he obviously had a lot of experience. He and my mom continued to talk about how people here in the City could not maintain a little discipline. He soon revealed to us that he is from Davao. He then continued to tell us of the differences Davao and Iloilo have. Here in Iloilo City, people would just cross the streets even though they know they're not supposed to. We would just throw our trash anywhere we like, even though there's already a law against it. Here, we would try to catch up in riding a jeep in the middle of the road. We would have drunkards party all night, even acting all drunk and hazy during the day.
But in Davao, everything's different. According to the taxi driver, there are only but a few traffic enforcers there, yet they all manage to follow the law. Why is that so? It turns out that if the person next to you would just litter, you can turn that person in to the police and receive money in exchange. That seems cool. Why can't we do that here too? There, everyone follows the rules. Nobody would dare to stray from the laws. There, they have a separate place for jeepneys to unload and another place for them to load. There, nightlife is only until 10:00, and so is the selling of beer. There, you're not allowed to drink beer in public, instead, you should bring it to your home and drink there. The mayor there is loved by the people. He would also go around the city on his motorcycle without any guards or police following him. If there would be a traffic jam, he would be the one to do the traffic enforcing himself. He imposes laws, especially traffic laws, is because his mother was once arrested for crossing the street! Imagine! The officials here, he said, are not standing up and making a change that well. They should strive harder in keeping our laws, because without it, there would be chaos.

I really couldn't believe how different these two places are. I realized that the place I call 'home' is full of undisciplined people compared to Davao. Well, all I could say is that in time, Iloilo City will prosper and though we couldn't be as disciplined as those in Davao, we'll still survive.

So these are the things I learned from the taxi driver. It's sad that we never got to know his name. I do hope I'll run in to him again. I just wanna know more!

PLAYFEST '10

One of the most challenging events this year, probably for my whole high school life here. This year, we staged Esther for our CAE play and we did the 3rd part of Florante at Laura . I was supposed to appear once in the first scene for Esther, but I was told by our directress to ad-lib twice, both in the scenes before a feast. It took them a long time to change the props and stuff, plus the villagers backstage did not appear downstage to ad-lib themselves. Since Lisa and I had a villager costume already, we went up the stage, totally unprepared. Gosh, was I shaking uncontrollably up there! I had to begin the ad-libbing, not sure of what to say or where it would lead to. At one point, my head went blank. I couldn't think of anything else to say anymore. And then, the unexpected happened. Claire and Nicholai, both from Anastasia, came up the stage with their Russian-style costume and ad-libbed with us! What a surprise that was. I tried to hide my amusement as I, a Persian villager, chatted with the Dowager Empress of Russia and her granddaughter, the young Anastasia. Well, the center curtains opened, much to my relief, and so Lisa, Claire, Nicholai and I went down back to the audience. I thought that was the last time I had to ad-lib. I thought . The last scene took a long time to be prepared. I don't know what had happened backstage. But all I know is that I had to ad-lib once again. The same rush of nervousness came over me again. But eventually, the center curtains opened once again. Those were not the only unforgettable things that took place. About, two days or the day before the final play, the files on the USB that contained the final arrangement of our music got corrupted. Meaning, all our files were gone. I had no explanation as to why that happened but I know that it was my fault. So, Marion and I painstakingly looked for a way to retrieve the files on the day before the play. Since no computer expert helped us, we decided on a Plan B, which was to make a new playlist. Marion had back-up files at home, but it lacked an important song. Well, the night before the play, Marion everything she could and the next day, the moment of truth, I had the job of rearranging the songs according to the script. It was tough. Some songs were hard to find, the script lacked songs that are needed and I still had to change put make-up on. Well, I managed to finish the whole playlist and prayed not to have it all mixed up for the nth time. The music during the play had some minor mistakes. but it was alright.

A lot of unexpected things happened during our CAE play, but all those things happened for a reason. We just have to find those out.

Well, CAE was tough but CAF was a totally different adventure. I was the Stage Manager and a soldier to Adolfo. Actually, I never wanted to be Stage Manager, because first of all, I would have to replace anyone who would be absent. And I know what kind of stress that would put me into, pacing around, hoping that nobody would get sick or something, since I was also the Stage Manager last year. The dance partner of Don Juan called in sick on the day of the play of Ibong Adarna. I had no other choice but to replace her, though I was faced with two problems: One, I didn't know the steps nor the formations, and two, I didn't have shoes. We were already at the backstage when I was told of this. The dress was delivered and eventually, Ms. Bena got hold of someone's heels. So I had to practice the entire dance routine in less than 5 minutes since we were scheduled to start then. During the dance, I swore I tripped as I attempted to twirl in those heels. I'm not used to dancing in heels because first of all: I don't wear high-heeled sandals and second: why the HELL would I dance around in those torture chambers they call shoes?

So,back to the present, I never really wanted that to happen again. So that's why I wanted to be the Production Manager for the 2nd year CAF play. Well, the intended Stage Manager didn't want to so I was convinced to be the Stage Manager since I already have 'experience'. Well, I clearly regretted the moment I said 'yes' to the part. So there I was, spending those days worrying about the health of my classmates. I didn't want them to get sick on the day of the play. Nooo. During the midst of our practices, we had some problems and then I was told to replace the soldier of the villain, Adolfo. I never had a guy role before. This was entirely new to me, having someone draw a mustache and a beard on my face. That tickled, seriously. During the TDR, there was a problem with the blindfold Adolfo was trying to tie around Laura's head. I was in that scene too. So, our Adolfo, Jessica, ad-libbed some stuff about me as her kawal, ordering me to tie it properly. I didn't say anything. I don't know how to ad-lib in Filipino and you bet I don't dare to, for I fear that it would sound horrible. During the final play, nobody was absent, Thank God for that, and I was dead-scared of committing a mistake while I'm on stage. Well, there was a mistake that was not planned well. You see, I was supposed to bring the blindfolded Laura to the woods, which meant I had to bring her from the stage, down to the audience, and back up on the stage. Problem was, our Laura, Louise, had a long gown, wore heels and was blindfolded. There was no way I could lead her down the steps without her tripping. I had to quickly change route on the day of the play. I think it turned out well, nobody thought of it as a mistake other than those who know the real choreography. Well, I also had a great time during the CAF play because we had a great impact on the audience. From the Introduction down to the Ending, we've heard claps, howls, gasps, screams, oohs, ahhs, and a lot more in response to the scenes, much to our surprise. It was truly successful for us.

Both plays were successful in its own right. It was truly another great experience for me that I'm sure I'll never forget. :)

Family Day '10

I was convinced that this would be the most colorful celebration in school. And, yeah it definitely was.

I guess it was a bit of a crossover between UN and Family Day because we were all encouraged to wear a national costume of any country. Well, I wore an Egyptian-inspired costume using my sister's old play costume, a pair of white sandals, and braided hair, for the first time. When I entered the school grounds, I immediately noticed that almost everyone was in a Chinese outfit. Well, I'm glad I wasn't Chinese again, having been in the same nationality twice already for UN. Anyway, it shows that we, Ilonggos, have Chinese ties if not, lovers of the Oriental race. So, I was also surprised that the teachers as well got into the spirit of the UN. All of them were wearing costumes and I gotta say, I was pretty impressed by that. I guess they wanted to be the best-dressed teacher or something. So, the first teacher I saw with a costume was Mr. Guintivano, wearing a Jewish-like outfit worn during Jesus' days. Also with a Jewish-like costume was Ms. Escare. They looked like a nice pair when put together side-by-side, having the same height and all. Also, another teacher that struck my eye was none other than my class adviser, Ms. Layson. I was shocked since she told us that her costume was going to be a surprise but I didn't expect her to wear a blonde wig! Her country was a Euroean country which I forgot. Well, I can say that she really worked hard on her outfit.

The first thing we had was the mass, followed by the parade, which I guess was really short. Then after the parade, we had a recess that was meant to be the registration time. My mom was the only one who came but she didn't have a costume on. After that, we had a program which included dance numbers from outside schools and our very own dance troupe. But I wasn't paying any attention along with my friends. We had our own 'presentation' right in our own seats with the music from the ones dancing in front. We then broke into different groups and performed dance numbers from different countries. We were the Persian group so therefore we had to belly dance. I know right. I'm not too keen in dancing but nevertheless, our group won the best presentation, which I think was just a form of pity for us since they gave every group a citation and the only remaining one was just given to us. So then we had lunch after. It took me a long time to buy at the Sbarro stand they had, but at least I was happy when I got to eat my Baked Ziti.

After eating our lunch, we all got bored. My mom was playing Bingo at 1:00 which was surprisingly early since it's usually held at 4:00. Also, the Family Day officially ended at 6:00 which was a total bummer since there wasn't going to be any class the next day. So back to our bored, after-lunch feeling, we decided to head to the St. Catherine classroom to rest. We decided to make a horror video thing but needed the help of Kayleigh who was still resting in her apartment. Well, we had nothing to do,so we fetched her in her apartment and went back to school. We then got tired when we reached the classroom so the horror video thing didn't happen at all. Ally and I then went downstairs and waited for the Bingo to end. When it did, we listened to the band that played. To tell you the truth, I was really disappointed when the concert wasn't what I expected it to be. I expected it to be like the one that happened last year, which everyone said was a blast but I wasn't there. No. This year's band was actually held outside the Sports Complex and they weren't the Rock n' Roll type either. Not much people were listening to them or dancing to their songs. I was really bummed because this year, I could actually stay for the concert for the first time. But it turns out, the concert wasn't enjoyable or fun as I thought. I don't know why but I felt like I was corrupted in some way. So after we went around and around, listened to some songs and talked to some people, my mom came to fetch me. I don't know why, but as unsuccessful as it was, I didn't feel like leaving yet the Family Day Celebration. I still had to leave though and that was the end of my Family Day '10 experience.

But wait! I almost forgot one thing.
When my mom told me that we should take the skywalk in front of the school and ride the jeep at the other side, she wanted to make sure first that there wasn't anyone on the skywalk that would make us feel uncomfortable since it was already beginning to get dark. She told me she saw the back of a person's head up there. I saw it too. That satisfied my mom, thinking it was a security guard so we went up the stairs. We were freaked out when we got up there and saw NO ONE at all. Creepy. My mom said that maybe that person went down already but I didn't believe her because we should have seen someone going down the stairs. So, that's the end of my day. Pretty creepy if you ask. :D

What happened on the 13th Day

October 11. What a day that was.

First of all, we were all psyched to know that there won't be any afternoon classes anymore, just a film in SM City. Everybody was excited, who wouldn't be? Marion said I would ride in her car along with Allyza and Lisa but sadly, Lisa was absent that day. So, we took in Bella, and we were all happy. When we got in Marion's car, we were all thinking the same thing: MJ is so CUTE! MJ is Marion's little brother. He's really cute especially when he talks. As we were preparing to leave the school grounds, Marion asked us if we want to have a take-out at McDo's first before we proceed to SM City with her treat. The three of us were shy and were passing on the question to each other. Marion's mom told us not be shy though. It took us a long time to decide because we were not even sure if we would allow her to treat us. Well, eventually we reached McDo in Jaro and gave our orders. I had a Coke Float, Bella ordered a Caramel Sundae, and Ally got a Float similar to Strawberry (I forgot the name) and we all shared one Large Fries. Marion had a Chicken Burger and I guess her brother did too.

We then arrived at SM City, passing at the back entrance where Ms. Layson told us to proceed. When we saw our classmates, they were surprised at seeing our food. They started complaining to our teacher that they should also buy food, seeing us with our Mcdonald's plastic. That was the time we realized bringing food in was a mistake. The four of us were scared now. We saw Sr. Paz confiscating a group of friends' drinks. That's it. We were doomed.

We tried to hide the food as much as we could. I really felt guilty breaking the law. I felt like a fugitive as we turned our backs on Sister every time she passed by. Whew! I was relieved a little when we reached the 3rd floor without getting caught. We were still hiding our food because Sister was there just a bit near from where we stood. Finally, with much sweat poured out from my body, and probably my parters-in-crime's too, our conscience kicked in. We decided to turn ourselves in since we wouldn't enjoy the movie while we're practically eating 'illegal' food. So we mustered enough courage to go up to Sister. She was still talking to another student when we interrupted her. Marion explained to her why we had food with us and I guess she was listening, but after Marion was done, she didn't say anything.
Weird After that, she walked over to other teachers as if nothing happened. We were thinking what would happen now, now that we told Sister. But then, it was time for us to enter the movie theater. No one seemed to look at us suspiciously anymore, and the guilt at the back of our minds were now starting to disintegrate. The feeling was refreshing. We had fun inside the theater. Sharing the food with others, we had a great time. The movie itself was cool too.

So, those were the things that made that day memorable. Memorable enough to have me blog about it 2 months later. :)

This is a really addicting game. The goal is to create as much elements as possible. You only start with the 4 basic elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air but you need to come up with 115! Well, Good Luck!

One thousand-year-long song

Longplayer is a one thousand year long musical composition. It began playing at midnight on the 31st of December 1999, and will continue to play without repetition until the last moment of 2999, at which point it will complete its cycle and begin again. Conceived and composed by Jem Finer, it was originally produced as an Artangel commission, and is now in the care of the Longplayer Trust.

Longplayer can be heard in the lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London, where it has been playing since it began. It can also be heard at several other listening posts around the world, and globally via a live stream on the Internet.

First Day of Exams: Done

Math. Science. Journalism.

Isn't it bad enough that Biology had to be on the first day of exams since we barely understood the lesson only finished the day before? But why was Math on the schedule??

Those thoughts were in my head the night before the exams. There were the Calvin Cycle, the Glycolysis, the Pyruvate Oxidation and the Krebs Cycle. I barely understood any of it and the lesson started only 2 days before the test. Great. Well, let the cramming start. And so it was. I barely studied for Math let alone Journalism. So when the tests came, I found Math to be the easiest then Journalism and of course, Science. I know I had failed in all the three tests today and that's because I didn't study well. I started studying the night before only since I studied for the Mastery Tests the whole weekend. See, this is why teachers shouldn't give their Mastery Tests on the same week as the exams unless they want to see their students complaining 24/7.

Well, better luck for the tests tomorrow, I guess, if I could only get off the computer now...
